Hi! I'm Alyson Levine, founder of Hands Down. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved baking. As a young girl, I loved going through recipe books, gathering ingredients, and seeing everything combine into a delicious dough. As I got older, it was the chemistry of baking that interested me—learning how minor changes in ingredients, baking time and temperature could affect the final product. After college, I followed the corporate career path, but my passion for perfecting the cookie (specifically chocolate chip!) was always there. I continued to play around with recipes and share the results with friends and family.
When my second son was born, I took some time off from my career, but continued to experiment in the kitchen. As my children grew, I wanted to return to work and I decided to follow my passion and started selling cookies locally. People loved them, but I was going for cookie perfection. Nothing compares to a warm cookie straight from the oven. I wanted everyone to have the same experience my family and friends had when they were baked fresh in our house—watching through the oven window with anticipation, the smell of baking cookies filling the air, and finally gathering together to enjoy. I started experimenting with storing the dough and the idea for Hands Down was born.
My path has led me back to where I began: a warm kitchen, in a house full of fond memories and the smell of fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies. At Hands Down, our mission is to make dessert an experience. We put a great deal of time into making each cookie recipe the best of its kind using the highest quality ingredients. Our cookies are delicious—but more than that, they’re crafted for togetherness. At the warm gooey center of it all, baking comes from the heart. When you bake our cookies, we hope your home is filled with love, excitement, and lots of messy smiles.
